Troubleshooting

How to fix common errors with Rapidemo. Troubleshooting guides and solutions.

Recording fails

Update GPU drivers

Typically, updating the GPU drivers fixes these kinds of issues.

If your computer has multiple GPUs (e.g. integrated and dedicated), make sure to update both drivers.

Often integrated GPUs are weaker, generally, but have better video processing capabilities, which Rapidemo leans on.

Choose another encoder or capturer

Rapidemo has multiple recording backends built in. Try different combinations of capturers and encoders in the Settings , under Recorder .

License key activation fails

Whitelist Rapidemo in antivirus

License key activation requires an internet connection. Some antivirus or firewall software may block Rapidemo's connection to the license server.

To fix activation, whitelist Rapidemo in your antivirus or firewall software, or disable it temporarily.

If you use a restricted Windows account and don't have access to the antivirus settings, ask your admin.

There is no system audio device

Enable the system audio device in Windows settings

Rapidemo records system audio through an audio device, which is exposed by your audio hardware. Sometimes you need to enable it manually in the Windows settings.

Go to Windows settings / System / Sound / All sound devices.

Look for a device called Stereo mix , Loopback , What you hear , Wave out or Rec. Playback . Select it and click Allow .

Update sound card driver

If you're not seeing the system audio device in the Windows settings, try updating your sound card driver.

Note that the system audio device might not be available on all audio hardware.

Permission issues

Folder and file permissions

To work properly, Rapidemo requires access to certain folders on your computer. If you're on a computer with a restricted Windows account, you might not have access to these folders.

After launching, Rapidemo runs a check to see if it has access to the required folders. If not, it will show which folders are inaccessible and you can request access from your admin.
