VTT is what web players and YouTube accept; SRT is what most video editors import.
Shift timing Positive delays the subtitles, negative brings them forward. 1000 is one second.

Everything runs in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste or drop your subtitles

SRT or WebVTT, from any exporter. The converter detects the format and proposes the other one as the target.
  2. 2

Shift the timing if you need to

Enter an offset in milliseconds, positive or negative, to line the subtitles up with a trimmed video.
  3. 3

    Copy or download

Copy the result to the clipboard or download it as a .srt or .vtt file. Nothing leaves your browser.

SRT to VTT converter FAQ

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

SRT (SubRip) numbers each cue and writes times with a comma before the milliseconds. WebVTT starts with a WEBVTT header, uses a dot before the milliseconds, drops the cue numbers and allows positioning and styling tags. Web players and YouTube take VTT; most editors import SRT.

Are my subtitles uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored.

Why do I need to shift the timing?

If you trimmed the start of a video after the subtitles were made, every cue is late by the trimmed length. Enter that length as a negative offset and the cues line up again.

Can it handle files from YouTube, Premiere, Whisper or Rapidemo?

Yes. It reads SRT and VTT from any exporter, including hour-less VTT timestamps, Windows line endings and files with a byte-order mark. VTT styling tags are removed when converting to SRT, since SRT players show them as text.

How do I get subtitles for a screen recording in the first place?

Rapidemo generates them on your computer from your microphone audio in one click and renders them into the video, on Windows 10 and 11. See the transcript guide.
