What is specific to MSI laptops
The Windows key switch. MSI Center’s General Settings lets you disable the Windows key so a mis-press does not drop you out of a game. It is the one brand setting on this site that silently breaks screen recording, because Game Bar and the Snipping Tool shortcuts both start with that key. If the shortcuts stopped working after you set up MSI Center, this is the first place to look.
Win/Fn swap. The BIOS (Del at boot) > Advanced > Win/Fn Key Swap exchanges the physical Windows and Fn keys. With it enabled, every “Win +” shortcut is pressed on the key labeled Fn.
No Fn lock. MSI keeps F1 to F12 as plain function keys and puts media and system functions behind Fn. There is no toggle; the layout is model-specific, and MSI’s advice is to look up the manual via MSI Center > Support > System Information.
MSHybrid graphics. MSI Center switches between MSHybrid and discrete graphics on supported models. MSI documents no Game Bar failure tied to it; if recording stops working after a switch, update the graphics driver and press Win + G once inside the app.
Where the files go
Game Bar writes MP4 clips to Videos > Captures; move the folder in File Explorer and Windows keeps using it. The Snipping Tool saves under Videos > Screen Recordings by default and shows the folder in its settings.
From a raw clip to a video you can publish
Game Bar is fine for gameplay. For a tutorial or a product demo, the raw clip is where the work starts. Rapidemo records the same screen on your MSI and adds zoom on clicks, cursor smoothing, subtitles and a camera overlay while you record. The full Windows guide compares every method; system audio and camera and microphone cover the setup.
