Here's what's new and what's next for Rapidemo. Welcome to the March update!

Spatial clips are out!

What’s new ✨

🧊 Spatial clips

Spatial clips are a new layout mode for clips on the timeline. They use a 3D environment that lets you add dramatic camera perspectives to your recording, great for eye-catching launch and marketing videos!

Spatial clips integrate with zoom effects and have seamless transitions with all other clip types.

I’m excited to see how you’ll use them!

🌈 Background gradient color stops

Background gradients can now have between 2 and 5 color stops. This makes it easy to quickly create a quick (but beautiful) gradient from 2 colors, while still giving you the option to add additional colors.

Previously, gradients had to have 3 colors.

Honestly, it was a somewhat arbitrary decision I made early on and haven’t touched since. It’s nice to have this cleaned up now!

🎨 Last used backgrounds

The background section in the editor now shows a grid of recently used background colors, images and gradients making it easy to reuse a background.

Backgrounds can also be deleted from the grid.

🐛 Bug fixes and improvements

The new release also includes a few improvements and bug fixes, here are the most noteworthy:

After creating a new timeline element, that element will be automatically selected. For new masks, the area selector opens automatically.

Rename dialogs now work more reliably. Previously, sometimes the text input was selected but typing didn’t work.

Presets now include the mask color.

And I’ve made some improvements to streamline the UI, both design-wise and regarding efficiency.

As always, feel free to check out the full details in the Rapidemo changelog.

What’s next 🔮

I’m really happy spatial clips are finally out. Now that they’re shipped I plan on taking on some smaller improvements you’ve suggested (thanks!).

As always, I’ll post progress updates on X!

That’s it for the March update! Let me know what you think. I’ll keep writing these monthly posts to keep you in the loop (and keep myself accountable 😁).

Send me an email or a DM on X if you have feedback.

Talk soon, back to coding! 👨‍💻
