Here's what's new and what's next for Rapidemo. Welcome to the February update!
This month I’ve been mostly heads down working on the 3D layout, or spatial clips as I like to call them now.
I also recorded a case study interview with one of my users with some incredible insights - it’s amazing to see how Rapidemo has streamlined video production workflows for individuals and companies. The article for the success story still needs to be written but I’m really happy with how it’s going!
What’s new ✨
🏗️Spatial clips (Work in progress)
Spatial clips introduce a new 3D layout that uses dramatic perspectives and animations to create those shiny launch videos you usually only see when big orgs (you know the ones!) ship new features.
I finally fixed the exporter after adding 3D clips! 🧊

They now work with seamless transitions between all other clip types (camera overlay, side-by-side...) 🔥

The 3D layout can be used for any clip on the timeline. As with all other clips, all transitions will be smooth and seamless.
Under the hood this is a fairly large change, so I want to make sure that editor and exporter performance doesn’t suffer from it, and that it’s well tested.
Progress is very good, I’m just tying up some loose ends before spatial clips are finally ready to ship!
What’s next 🔮
Together with spatial clips I’ve also worked on some improvements that make the recorder, editor and exporter more efficient. I’ll ship these improvements together with the big spatial update.
As always, I’ll post my progress on X!
That’s it for the February update! Let me know what you think. I’ll keep writing these monthly posts to keep you in the loop (and keep myself accountable 😁).
Send me an email or a DM on X if you have feedback.
Talk soon, back to coding! 👨💻
